Day 1
On the first day, after many stopovers and change of plans, we ended up at Guhagar, though we had booked a hotel at Chiplun. Staying with a hospitable local family was the highlight of the day.
Guhagar is about 300 km from Mumbai and about 200 km from Pune. Clean beaches are its USP.

Hi there, I am glad u enjoyed the lesser known attractions Chiplun, Koyna... I hail from Chiplun.
I have a question, I will be visiting India in Dec. & intend to go exploring 'tramp' style. The question is ..how do you arrange homestays, u do that in advance or what??
